Cody enjoys playing music and checking out live bands.
Cody is currently touring with Jason Boland and the Stragglers! And on his off days he plays with The Damn Quails and Midnight River Choir!
I then asked him When and why did you start playing?
"Picked up guitar at 11 because I thought it would be fun. Started playing steel guitar when I was 18 to increase my employability" he said.
Let me tell you how talented this young man is! I aske him what all instruments hs then replied, "Guitar, pedal steel, dobro, lap steel, drums, and bass." My mind is blown by how talented he is!
What were the first songs you learned?
"Somethin Merle Haggard, something Stevie Ray Vaughan haha"
Other than yourself is your family musical?
"Nobody plays, but we always had great music in the house and both parents are huge music lovers"
Which famous musicians do you admire the most?
"Lloyd Maines- I met him when I was 13 and he took me under his wing. I admire his humility, genius, and love for what he does.
John Hughey, Ralph Mooney, Lloyd Green, Paul Franklin. They have defined and redefined the steel guitar and it's role in music."
Which famous musicians have you learned from?
"Everyone I can steal something off of haha." Haha you get it cause he plays steel guitar!
Were you influenced by old records & tapes?
"Absolutely, the old is were the gold is!"
Who are your favorite musicians?
"The ones you feel instead of just hearing." Isn't that the truth.
What's your favorite thing about being on the road?
"It's where I feel at home. Seeing new places, new people, it's beer boring."
What's the funniest thing that's happened on the road?
"I plead the fifth"
Best place to eat while on the road?
"Czech stop in West, Texas, the Rustic in Dallas, cool club as well. Bucees is a must,
What's the best town play in?
"Lubbock is always wild and a blast. Columbia, Missouri is a really cool town. Corpus is a fun one as well"
